So I finally got around to visiting The Pirate Store at 826 Valencia, but it was closed. Sad face. 

This place may be familiar to you if you've ever read or been to McSweeneys. It's this SF writing center made famous by author  Dave Eggers (A Heart Breaking Work of Staggering Genius, What is the What, etc). It also, for some reason, houses a pirate store. Where you can buy pirate stuff. I have now lost a total of 12.5 pounds, bringing me down to 127.5 :)

I didn't do it through a diet fad or a trainer or anything. I did it by eating fewer calories and walking everywhere. The moving all my stuff part helped as well...and sweating a lot in the place I'm staying (there's no air conditioning) so I guess I'm also drinking a lot more water. I don't know what it is but I've dropped a little weight lately. About 6 lbs according to the scale. And I've been emotionally releasing as I do it. My emotions have been high during the move. Things seem to be happening fast there. I had renters within 15 minutes of listing my property and about 30 calls about the place that same day. The storage facility I found was a God-send, too. So even though I'm poor right now I had to get a new phone. And it turned out when I went in that I was way over due for an upgrade. Yay! Also, thank goodness for credit when you need it. Now I don't even have to pay my bill till September.

Some say I was brave for doing it, but really it was a lot of fun. Really. If you are a girl, you will know this is true (and possibly be jealous).

And you know I cried every day for a year after he died. I couldn't help it. 

People have stories of him after his death.

I went out on a walk and to soak up some sun today in my little neighborhood. I live in what is considered the Mexican ghetto of Salt Lake. It's situated right on the west edge of downtown in a little area full of corner marts with exclusively Spanish words painted brightly on sides of buildings and adorable little Mexican children running through the streets. These little monkeys and I made caramel popcorn for our activity this Tues. Some days it's really tough to get their attention just long enough to actually do what we had planned. This morning I had pumpkin pie for breakfast. So bad, yet so good. It's my favorite pie.

My neighbor came over with it last night just as I was headed out the door. It was an exchange for some of my sugar. When does that ever happen anymore? Neighbors bringing pies and borrowing sugar?

There was also a delish apple pie I picked up at the grocery yesterday. Managers special. This new TSA measure is outrageous and ineffective.
